Welcome!

Hello delegates!

Welcome to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) blog.  I hope you’re all having a happy holiday season and are keeping up with global news.  My name is Erin Simmer and will be chairing with the aid of Ryan Mattison and Ryo Wakabayashi.  We will each post weekly updates, questions, or pertinent articles to the blog, so please check-in frequently!

A great place to begin your research is with the actual UNDP website.  Also,  there are many articles under “points to consider” at the end of the UNDP topic synopses(http://www.bmun.net/files/topic_synopsis/UNDP.pdf).  Remember, these questions are just to help you being your research, so please make sure to stay within your country’s policy and analyze the information the chairs provide accordingly.

Each week there will be a “focus” to help you explore our topics (1) Investment in Female Empowerment and (2) Environmental Change and its Impact on Community Health and how they relate to overall global development issues.  This week we will focus on THE ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS. Please find under Topic 2, point to consider #5, a question relating to the World Bank.  Become familiar with its role in the resolution-making process and come up with viable funding options for improving projects in your country.

Good luck!  And please contact us with any questions here or through the committee email address (bmun58undp@gmail.com).

Take care,

Erin
