Vice Chair Intro

December 29th, 2008 by humanitarian

Hi guys! I hope all of you have been enjoying your breaks these past few days! My name is Hannah Yang, and I will be one of your vice chairs for the BMUN 57 Conference. I’m currently a first year. I’m quite undecided about my major; however, currently I’m looking towards double majoring in Rhetoric and Business Administration with a minor in Spanish (if I can fit them all into my 4 years of college). This semester at college I took on an easier schedule, but I did a lot of activities in high school. I was involved with our school’s MUN program which included week-long trips to New York and Chicago. I enjoyed doing humanitarian work through my club Antidote International. I think my most memorable experiences during my officer years were the trips to orphanages in Mexico with Corazon de Vida and the Hunger Banquets that we hosted with Oxfam America. I also did a lot of video editing and filming for our high school’s TV broadcasting producation team. On my free time, I love creative writing. I’m not very good at poetry, but I write a lot of fictional short stories. Sports wise, I play tennis. I LOVE tennis. So, I hope these give you a better idea of myself, and maybe we share some of the same interests.

During the next few weeks before conference, keep on updating yourselves about the current issues regarding US-Russia relations. Consistently refer back to the blog for any updates from your chairs as well.  I look forward to seeing all of you at the end of February. Work hard!

Lastly, I wish all of you a Happy New Year!

Welcome to BMUN 57

December 7th, 2008 by humanitarian

Welcome to BMUN 57! My name is Jasmine Cheema and I will be chairing the Security Council Humanitarian committee this year. This is my second year at Cal, and I plan on majoring in Political Economy of Industrial Societies (PEIS) and double minoring in Theater and Performance Studies and South Asian Studies. Your vice chairs, Sana and Hannah will also be introducing themselves in this blog soon.

In this committee we’ll be discussing US-Russia relations through intellectual and challenging debate. To keep up in committee it is very important to be well-informed on the background and current events on US-Russia issues. Remember to read both the SC Humanitarian topic synopsis and the SC Main Committee synopsis. My chairs and I will often post current events information and links relevant to our topic, and any other information, including logistical, here –so please be sure to check it often. Furthermore, blog participation will be taken as an indicator of your commitment to this committee and debate.

I look forward to meeting you all! If you have questions or concerns please email me.
