“Millions of women are on the move today fleeing from violence and persecution, in search of protection of their most fundamental human rights. The majority remain within their own countries; most of the rest stay in neighboring countries in refugee camps or local communities. A small minority seek protection farther afield, either as asylum seekers or through refugee resettlement processes. This paper addresses the issues that confront this minority of women refugees and asylum seekers.
