Musharraf is clearly proving to be dedicated to creating an image where he is anit-terrorism (whether it is legit or not doesn’t matter). He is building credibility around the world, including to the eyes of Americans. I actually think his election over Bhutto will be great for Pakistan’s future!

Haha. Mr. Musharraf had better win the election over Bhutto, otherwise he’d be less popular than a recently-deceased person. Which of course could be possible…
While Musharraf builds credibility abroad, those same actions may make him less popular at home. Any coddling by the Americans makes him seem more of a puppet, and this could lead to unfavorable domestic reactions.
How do you propose that the Americans (and their shipments of modern armaments) are made happy, without threatening internal dissent?

Does anyone know if Bhutto is still officially on the ticket? That could be interesting…
